The next big step....

Natalie got a gift card to Target from her Grandpa and Grandma Simonson (Mark's dad and stepmom) so we decided to buy her a little potty. Now, I know she's young but I thought we could take it nice and slow and let her sit on it once in a while to get used to the idea, and eventually she would start using it.

Well today she WENT POTTY IN IT!!!!!
This is her proud little self after the big event. I was changing her diaper after her nap and asked her if she wanted to go potty on the toilet. She got all excited so I carried her into the bathroom and sat her down on it. As she was sitting there I made the little "sssss" noise to remind her of the noise she's supposed to make and all of a sudden she was really going! I praised her a lot and she was pleased with herself. I know, it was probably coincidence. But it was still really exciting!

We're not going to push her or anything. She'll learn when she's ready (but hopefully "ready" will be sooner rather than later!). Eventually she'll be able to tell me that she needs to go, and someday we'll start letting her wear underwear. What fun we have to look forward to. :-)

How cute that she already wants to go potty. :) We're still working on Cole and he just turned 3. :) We used to let Ashtyn wear underwear over her diaper just so she'd get excited about wearing underwear. Such a fun part of motherhood.

Your child is freakishly intelligent.

Yay for Natalie! Don't worry yourself about her being too young, I was only 18 months old and wearing underwear, so its very possible she's actually ready!

YEAH! How exciting...girls can be ready early so maybe you'll be lucky...I was one of those at 18 months (I am sure nursery loved me :) ) Ashlyn was just over two though. They do it when they are ready! Way to go Natalie AND Mom!!!

Wow, you go Natalie! That's so cute. She's getting so big and looks so cute with her pigtails! We got the news about Karen. She really is so amazing with such a great attitude. I think her optimism will get her through this. Happy late bday! I just turned 28 and feel like an oldie!

Wow that's really exciting. I'm just starting with Alaura, so maybe she'll be potty trained before she hits two!!

Congratulations, that's so exciting. Even if it was just a coincidence, now she knows. The sooner the better right? I think Natalie is an advanced child, doesn't she do like everything early?? :)

What a great idea to start them a little early, I was reading this to Rob and he said that that was a good idea and we might start Amirra ealry to and take it nice and slow as well. :)
