V-day

We didn't do much since Mark is always studying, but I did get the girls dressed all Valentiney. Aunt Melanie got Hannah this little heart shirt and she looked so cute!

And for kicks and giggles:Natalie liked being all dressed in pink hearts. She got to spend the morning over at Grandma Simonson's house making heart sugar cookies and having a "tea" party.
Here's the best pose of her that I got. She was not about to stand still for me!
After we put the kids to bed we had plans to go and get some gelato. However, we attended an open house that night for my cousin Travis who left on his mission this past week and ate WAY too many treats there, so we just did the grocery shopping together instead. Romantic, I know. But it was fun b/c it reminded us of when we were first married and went grocery shopping together every time. I remember thinking we would always do that together and not become the mom who has to go shopping with her kids. haha! I was so young and naive. Tee hee.

My new craft

My sister found this totally cute tutorial to make baby shoes. Here's one from Jill's website. I tried making my own and they were so fun and not too hard!

This is my practice shoe. I made another one, but accidentally made another left, tee hee! THe first took me about 45 minutes, then the second was only 20minutes. So fun!

A light dusting....

So today I made bread. It turned out great, and I am super excited to eat homemade bread for the next week or so. But I had a little incident I wanted to recap here for your entertainment.

I was grinding my wheat into flour, and didn't connect the grinder to the container that holds the flour very well. I turned it on and the connecter tube popped out of place, spinning the grinder 180 degrees and spewing freshly ground flour forcefully out the side hole all over the kitchen like a fire hydrant spraying water.

I reached to turn it off only to find that the power switch was not where it once had been (since it spun). I felt all over frantically and finally found it on the opposite side of where it should be. Meanwhile, the kitchen ended up with a light dusting of flour. And to top it all off, both girls woke up right as I began to clean it up. Nice!

A blessed object

Natalie never used a pacifier. I tried a few times half-heartedly, because I was sort of against them b/c of all I've read about the negative effects they can have.
I have since changed my mind.
A couple of weeks ago my mom was rocking Hannah to sleep for me (which involves lots of walking, bouncing, and shhh-ing) and saw a pacifier sitting out somewhere. She washed it up, popped it in, and Hannah was asleep in no time. She LOVES it.
I have been converted to the world of artificial nipple-hood.

A cute moment

The other day I was getting ready for the day when Hannah woke up and started crying. I sent Natalie in there to sing her a song (Hannah likes to hear Natalie sing the ABC's) until I could finish up whatever I was doing (only a minute or two, I don't let them be alone together too long!). I went in to find this.

Natalie had been playing with some stickers and decided to decorate Hannah too.

Hannah's blessing day

We blessed Hannah in church on February 1st. It was a very nice blessing and a wonderful day. Lots of family was able to come and it was nice to see everyone. Hannah was pretty cranky right before sacrament meeting started, so at the last second as Mark was taking her up, I popped the pacifier in her mouth and told him to have someone hold it. The bishop was the lucky guy to do the job, and it worked! She didn't cry. And she was a good baby during all the pictures too. Yay.

Brooklyn and Natalie would rather have been running around.

The sun was so bright!

Our little family. I can't believe I have two kids!

Ok

Alrighty people. I just got back from the gym and I have a few things I need to change about my goals. I just read a story in my Parents magazine about a lady who overdid it with her exercising after her baby was born (she was way too extreme about it) and her baby was failing to thrive until she cut back on the exercising and dieting (she was breastfeeding).

I decided it's too early in my baby's life to cut out too many calories. Like I said before, I don't want to risk diminishing or losing my milk supply, so until she is older and not nursing quite so around-the-clock, I am not going to concentrate on losing pounds. I'm not going to try to get to a certain weight just yet. My goals will become a little more broad, but more healthy for my little nursling.

  • Avoid treats (this includes candy, brownies, cake, pie, ice cream, cookies, etc)
  • Limit processed foods
  • Eat more fruits and veggies
  • Exercise regularly at a normal intensity level
  • Drink lots of water (yesterday I drank a whole gallon)

So that's it. I'm removing my weight loss ticker from my blog. I'll put it back up when Hannah is 5 or 6 months old. If you see me in the same clothes all the time, it's because most of my stuff is for a differently shaped bod and nothing really fits right now!
