What I'm grateful for

I am grateful to be able to carry a baby to full term. So many babies are born prematurely and have many health problems because of it, and I'm grateful mine will be able to avoid those problems. I am also grateful because many couples struggle with infertility and it has been a huge blessing in our lives to be able to have children. That's what I'll focus on as I struggle to roll over in bed until this baby decides to show her cute little face.

I'm still pregnant.

So I guess yesterday was what they call "prodromal labor." I sort of was expecting it since I had it for days before Natalie was born, but still, yesterday's contractions got my hopes up! Oh well. They continued all the way till I went to bed, then I woke up with NOTHING. I have had like, 4 contractions today, and none of them were of the intensity of yesterday.

I did have a dr appt today, and I am dilated to a "3 plus." Which means I'm between a 3 and a 4 I suppose. The baby's heartbeat was low, so they did a non-stress test and it turned out fine. She must have been sleeping before. It was somewhat depressing to schedule my 41 week appointment but hopefully I won't be able to make that one! Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!

I may be in labor

Just an update. Today I've been having regular contractions ALL DAY! Wahoo. They have varied in intensity and frequency, with the closest being 4 min apart for an hour or so, and with the most intense happening right now. But right now they are about 8 min apart. They are strong enough to make me stop what I'm doing, but I can still talk through them. I would rate them at a 3 on a scale of 0-10 with BH being 0 and transition/ring of fire being a 10. Anyway, I will be going to sleep early in hopes of getting rest before the really hard stuff if this is really it. Hopefully the next post will bring good news!

40 weeks....

Yes, I'm still pregnant for those of you who don't see me on a regular basis. :-) I will be 40wks on Friday actually (ticker is 2 days off) but I took a pic early.

I am dilated to a 3 and still 85% effaced as of my appointment on Thursday. My next one is this coming Wed, if I make it until then. Nothing exciting to report other than I am having random, scattered stronger-than-BH contractions here and there. In fact, I had 2 during church today. I also had one that woke me up the other night. So here's hoping my extremely amazing strong human grower uterus is gearing up for the big day sooner than later.

I love this book.

I know I'm sort of obsessed with this topic right now, but if anybody wants to learn more about natural childbirth and are considering it, I HIGHLY recommend this book. It is so amazing and inspiring. I'm taking notes to give to Mark for things to remind me of whilst I'm laboring. I'm feeling more ready to give birth again after reading this!

Tag again!

Ok, I was tagged by Kari who had a GROSS picture of a freshly skinned javelina on her blog. haha. Rule is the fourth pic in the fourth folder of your pictures, so here's mine:

Natalie is 7mo and she was mad in the high chair. I was baking and trying to keep her entertained at the same time. I tag whoever wants to do it!

Our day in photos

Simply because I want to show off some photos I took today, here is what we did.

In the morning Natalie and I drove to Scottsdale to visit Melanie and so I could drop off Natalie and run a couple of errands in the area that would have been harder with her. She had fun playing with Brooklyn in between fights.

One of their "getting along" moments. We like those best.

Then in the afternoon we went to the park. I like how this picture shows all her fuzzy fly-aways. She only slept for one measley little hour after her long morning and horrible pre-nap crankiness. I was glad I fell asleep right after she did or else I would have been bent out of shape about not getting a nap!

I started feeling really sick while pushing her, so I ended up sitting down on a swing while she played on some of the "big kid" swings. She was entertained by swinging on her tummy for a long time. I finally convinced her to come home, but first we had to pass by the playground, and of course she wanted to play on it. Somebody had filled the bottom of the slide with sand, which gave her plenty to do as she scooped it off all over her body.

Do you like the cloud? Yes, I just sat on the bench and watched. I was feeling so icky (stomach sickness kind of icky) that I didn't even care at this point.

And this is the end result. Yes, she is in her socks. I told you, I was sick!
It was overall a fun day, but I'm realizing I need to take it easy a little more. I'm pooped!

The beginning...

I got my lens today! Here is a picture I took of Natalie. It was on auto mode and all I did was point and shoot (I will eventually learn how to take manual shots to create beautiful photography!). I thought it looked really good so here it is! I think I'll start a separate photography blog just to track my progress. We'll just see how it goes from here.
In other news, today my dr told me I'm at a 2 and 85% effaced. My mucus plug is "long gone" too, which makes me excited because supposedly one loses their plug as a sign of impending labor (although at almost 38wks one could argue that ANYTHING is a sign of impending labor). So I'm excited, but not TOO excited because I know I could still stay preggo for another 3 or 4 weeks. Plus I'm not sure I'm ready to be a mommy of two!

I've been wondering...

Will baby #2 have as much hair as Natalie did??

Baby update

Well, I went to the doctor today and had my first cervical check. I am 1.5cm dilated and 80% effaced. Yay! At 37wks with Natalie, I was dilated to a 4, so I was sorta hoping I would be at least a little today. Now to try and wait 3.5 more weeks....it's so hard right at the end!

photography

So I bought my camera!! I have been saving for some months and finally had enough, did some research, and bought the body and lens on eBay. They should both arrive this next week, hopefully. Now that I have a newborn coming, I want to be able to take some good quality pictures of her and of course of Natalie too.

I don't really know anything about photography. I'm trying to learn about aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc, but it's hard to teach oneself. I'm looking for some books or websites that I can look into to learn about it until I can take a class eventually. So, my photographer friends, what can you send my way? Any good websites you have visited? Books you have read? Any photographer's websites you look at for ideas for poses? I would love to know!!

Happy Halloween, a little late

Happy Halloween, even though we are now in November. I was waiting until I had all the festivities over with so I could post all the pics at once. It was a fun season, and Natalie was so cute in her fairy costume. She got the trick-or-treating idea but wouldn't ever say it to people. Oh well, maybe next year!
At the ward Trunk or treat. She is holding Brooklyn's bag for some reason instead of her Elmo bucket (or her "momo buppet" in Natalie-ese).

She won a cupcake at the cake walk. It was full of greasy purple frosting which she enjoyed eating.
Natalie and Brooklyn attacking each other with their magic wands before the trunk or treat. we told them to give each other a hug and they did this instead.

Trick or treating. This is the only picture I got of her actually holding out her bucket. She was so shy!The girls enjoying their cupcakes.
Here she is at Mark's aunt Judy's annual Halloween bash. I did her hair a little more special for this one.
Our little family. I was a "sleeping beauty" (I'm wearing fancy clothes, make up, jewelry and a crown but I'm going to bed w/ my bathrobe and stuffed animal), Mark was reliving his past (Wachovia hat, suns jersey, HHS stole, missionary tag, and a foot brace).

A closeup of her hair.

Joy A and me with our preggo bellies. She is due TODAY and me in 4 wks. Hopefully her little guy will come soon!
This is at our playgroup Halloween activity at Kristina's house. It was so much fun! Natalie is painting a piece of egg carton brown which soon acquired pipe cleaner legs to become a big brown spider. What a cute craft. Thanks Bre!

She was SO proud of her spider. She put it next to her to eat for like, 2 straight days.

Anyway, it was fun, like I said. I am glad it's over but I'm sure I'll be excited again come next year when I get to dress up two little princesses!!
