Here is a consumer reports article that illustrates my feelings, beliefs, and thoughts about the birthing process. I have recently discovered that my OB may not feel the same way as I do, and so I'm looking for a possible change in OBs. If anybody knows of a dr (OB/GYN, family practitioner, naturopathic dr, etc) who supports women who want to give birth naturally, please let me know.
I understand that not everyone feels as I do, or have reasons to not have babies this way due to medical circumstances. That's ok with me! I'm just looking for someone for ME, not to impose my birthing feelings on anyone. :-)

Good luck on looking for a new OB/GYN. I remember when I told my docotr that I wanted to have Christine without medication, he said that was alright for me to think about, but I should also keep myself open to other options. I don't think he was really counting on my being able to do it without an epidural. I would have thought a UT doc would have a little bit broader perspective, but what can you do. Anyway, best of luck-- I know you'll have another great birth story to share.
I agree with MOST ALL Of it... but I like that fetal electronic monitoring stuff... it was neat to see Brooke's heart rate and mine on the same paper :) But then again, I do like technology. If it makes you feel better, Alisa, you really should just switch doctors. Since Girl #2 is healthy and such, they shouldn't care.
I like having the option of an epedural, I got one with alaura because after 48 hours of not sleeping and 20 hours of labor I was exhausted and needed some sleep. However if I get one again I'm going have them lower the dose at delivery so I can feel what I'm doing. My biggest concern is the epesiotomy, unluckily my dr does them alot. I had a really hard time recovering after alaura, but her head was HUGE and I was tearing so, the episiotomy was probably needed. I like the monitors, because I want to know if the baby's under stress while i'm in labor, but I fully support you in finding a Dr who shares your views on this. I'm sure you will and that it'll all work out well.
My dr is open to either way. He was great. But he is very popular and very busy, he may not be able to get you in so late. Let me know if you want his info.
Hey, I think it's great you want to do this the natural way! I have strong feelings for technology because it saved Slade, but it's always neat to hear of women that want and can deliver their children the way nature intended it. Anyway, Skylar's cousin goes to Naturopathic pediatrician but they have other services there. Check it out at eastvalleynd.com. I know she goes to an office at Higley and Southern, I believe... Good luck! I think you'd be more comfortable with a DR that shares your views.
